Tim : Well, you know, what I'm trying to say is that we should end this party. That's it.

저기, 있잖아, 내가 말하고자 하는 건 우리가 이 파티를 끝내야 한다는 거야. 그게 다야.

Ross : Hey, don't spoil the mood! The night is still young.

이봐, 분위기 망치지마! 아직 초저녁이야.


Tim : What are you going to do after graduation? 졸업 후에 뭐할 작정이야?

Karen : Well, I'm not sure. Get a job, I guess.

글쎄요, 확실히 모르겠어요. 제 생각엔 직업을 가질 것 같아요.

Tim : That's it? 그게 다야?

Karen : What's wrong with that? What's your big plan?

그게 뭐 잘못됐어요? 오빠는 뭐 대단한 계획이라도 있나요?

It's out of this world

* be to die for 는 [(옷이나 음식 등이) 정말 훌륭하다, 맛있다]라는 의미...



Kate : How's the apple pie? 애플파이 맛이 어때?

Tim : It's out of this world. Can I have another piece? 끝내주는데. 한 조각 더 먹어도 될까?



Tim : My mother's apple pie is to die for. 우리 엄마 애플파이는 정말 기가 막히게 맛있어.
Kate : You bet. It's so delicious. 맞아. 정말 맛있더라.



Tim : Did you see that movie titled "King Auther"? "킹 아더"라는 영화 봤니?

Ross : Of course, 물론 봤지.

Tim : How was it? 그 영화 어땠어?

Ross : It was to die for. 아주 죽여줘.


eg) This cheese cake is just to die for. 이 치즈 케이크 정말 끝내준다.

eg) Just go out with her, you have nothing to lose. 그녀와 데이트해봐. 손해볼 건 없잖아.


Tim : I'm afraid you can't talk Ross into buying a new car. He is not easily persuaded.

로스에게 새 차를 사도록 설득할 수 없을거야. 그는 쉽게 설득이 안되거든.

Mariah : We can try, it couldn't do any harm. 해볼 수는 있지. 손해볼 건 없으니까.

Ross : I really want to marry that Canadian woman. 저 캐나다 여자와 결혼하고 싶은데

Do you think that she would be given a Korean citizenship?

Tim : Well, it can't hurt to try. 글쎄, 손해볼 것은 없으니까 해봐.

Ross : Why didn't you apply to Yale? Give it a shot. It doesn't hurt to try.
예일에 원서를 내보지 그랬어? 한번 시도해 봐. 밑져야 본전이잖아.

Tim : Yale is just a pie in the sky for me. I know myself.

예일은 내게 그림의 떡이야. 내 자신을 알아.


Ross : I would like to have Karen come to my birthday party.

카렌이 내 생일 파티에 왔으면 좋겠는데.

Tim : Why don't you send an invitation to her? 그녀에게 초대장을 보내는 게 어때?

Ross : I'm afraid she wouldn't come. 안 올까봐 겁나서.

Tim : Trying wouldn't hurt. 밑져야 본전이니까 한 번 해봐.


Kate : What company are you applying to? 어느 회사에 지원할 거니?

Tim : Lotte and Doosan. 롯데하고 두산.

Kate : I thought you'd apply to Samsung, too. Trying wouldn't hurt.

삼성에도 지원할 줄 알았은데. 밑져야 본전이니까 도전해봐.

Ross : It's past seven and I'm losing my concentration. 7시가 넘으니까 집중이 안되네.

Tim : Me, too. Let's call it a day. We'll do the rest tomorrow.

나도 그래. 그만 끝내자. 나머지 일은 내일 하기로 하자.

Ross : Great suggestion, but I have an even better idea.

좋은 생각이긴 하지만 그보다 더 좋은 아이디어가 있어.

Let's have a beer to unwind before we head home.

집에 가기 전에 긴장을 풀겸 맥주나 한잔 하자.

Tim : What do you do to unwind after a hard day's work?
열심히 일하고 나서 무엇으로 긴장을 풀어?

Ross : I just sit back and relax at home, and watch baseball games on TV.

집에서 그냥 의자에 파묻혀 쉬면서 TV로 야구경기를 봐.
