I'm exhausted 피곤해

I'm exhausted

* exhausted = extremely tired and having no energy

* bushed = (informal) very tired


Kate : I can't concentrate anymore. I'm exhausted. 더 이상 집중을 못 하겠어. 피곤해.

Tim : Why don't you lie down on the couch over there and rest?

저기 소파에 누워서 좀 쉬지 그래?


Tim : How was your day? 오늘 어땠냐?

Ross : I'm exhausted. I get up at six and it's go, go, go.

지친다. 6시에 일어나서 하루 종일 굉장히 바빴거든.



Tim : How's work going? 일은 잘 되어가고 있니?

Ross : I'm totally exhausted. 난 완전히 지쳤어.


Kate : We're supposed to go to dinner tonight with Ross and Mariah.

우린 오늘 저녁에 로스와 마리아와 함께 저녁먹기로 되어있어.

Tim : I know, but I'm exhausted. Do you think they would mind if we went another day?

알아. 하지만 난 너무 피곤해. 다른 날로 날짜를 바꾸면 그들이 싫어할 것 같아?

Kate : I'll call them, but you don't know how they will react.

내가 전화해볼게, 그러나 걔들이 어떻게 반응할지 당신은 모를거야.


Tim : I'm bushed. I think I'll hit the sack. 난 피곤해서 자야겠다.

Jay : I'm going to get some sleep, too. 저도 자려고요.

eg) I just feel up to playing tennis anymore. I'm bushed.

난 더 이상 테니스를 치고 싶지 않다. 지쳤어.


eg) I was so exhausted at work that I just couldn't get anything done.

오늘은 너무 피곤해서 아무 것도 못 했어.


eg) We were too exhausted to walk so we took the bus.

우린 너무 지쳐 걸을 수 없어서 버스를 탔어.


I'm beat

* beat = (informal) very tired

* done in = (informal) extremely tired [녹초가 되다]

* burn yourself out = to ruin your health and feel very tired through working too hard, drinking too much alcohol etc


Tim : Whew, I'm beat. 휴, 힘들다.

Ross : Let's take a break for ten and then get back at it. 10분만 쉬었다가 다시 하자.



Tim : I'm beat. Let's take a coffee break. 지친다. 커피 한 잔 하면서 좀 쉬자.

Ross : I don't know about you, but I need a smoke!

넌 어쩔지 모르겠는데, 난 담배 한 대 피워야겠다!


* I dont know about you but... = (spoken) used to give an opinion, suggestion, or decision of your own which might be different from that of the person listening


Ross : Oh, I'm beat. I haven't slept a wink in two days.

아, 정말 피곤해. 이틀동안 한숨도 못 잤어.

Tim : How come? Because of final exams? 왜? 기말시험 때문에?

eg) I've got to sit down. I'm completely done in. 좀 앉아야겠다, 완전히 녹초가 됐어.


eg)  Come and sit down, you must be dead beat. 와서 좀 앉어. 엄청 피곤한 것 같네.

eg) I'm getting burned out. I think I need to look for a different job. I've been doing this for twenty years.

난 지쳤어. 다른 직업을 찾고 싶은 생각이야. 벌써 20년이나 일했어.


eg) If you don't take a vacation soon, you're going to get burend out. You need a break.

곧 휴가를 얻지 않으면 넌 지칠거야. 넌 휴식이 필요해.

eg) I'm really burned out. I boozed last night. 정말 피곤해. 간밤에 술을 많이 마셨거든.


Got a minute? 시간 좀 있니?

* have you got a minute? = (spoken) used to ask someone if it is convenient for you to talk to them for a short time


Tim : Ross, got a minute? 로스, 시간 좀 있니?

Ross : Yes, What's up? 응. 무슨 일인데?

Tim : I'm planing a surprise party for Kate. I need your help.

케이트를 위한 깜짝 파티를 계획중이거든. 좀 도와줘.

Ross : No problem. What can I do? 그러지 뭐. 뭘 도와주면 되니?


I've got a funny feeling

* funny 는 구어체에서 [이상한]이라는 의미로 많이 사용...

* funny = unusual and difficult to explain

Tim : Is everything okay? 다 괜찮은 거야?

Mariah : I've got a funny feeling. 뭔가 이상한 기분이 들어.

Tim : Me too. Something's wrong. 나도. 뭔가 잘못 되었어.

Mariah : Let's check our work one more time. 우리 일을 한 번 더 확인해보자.


Don't get down about it

* get down 은 많은 의미가 있지만 [침울해지다][낙심하다]라는 의미...

* get down = to gradually make someone feel unhappy and tired

Mariah : I just lost my new watch. 방금 새 시계를 잃어버렸어.

Tim : Don't get down about it. 너무 마음 아파하지 마.

Mariah : You're right. I can always buy another one. 네 말이 맞아. 또 새로 사지 뭐.

Tim : Yeah, and it didn't cost that much. 그래, 그리고 그리 비싼 것도 아니었잖아.
